How To Win Either Way

November 18, 20252 min read

I woke up after a blissful morning routine to the usual noise on my phone. A breaking news alert. A rough market headline. An email saying a shipment would be late. For a moment, my body reacted. Tight chest. Fast thoughts. In the past, that moment would have labeled the day as a loss. That label would have followed me into every call and every decision.

Not today, I muttered under my breath.

I opened my notebook and wrote three words.

Breathe. Believe. Become.

I reminded myself of a simple truth from Hermetic philosophy. All is mind. I cannot always choose the event. I can always choose the meaning and my next move.

First, I breathed. I felt my feet on the floor. I noticed my heartbeat. I told myself I am alive and I am safe.

Then I believed. I said I am aligned with purpose. Nothing outside of me can cancel that. A delay is information. It is not a verdict.

Then I became. I made a straightforward move, the best version of me would make. I called the vendor. I adjusted the timeline. I moved one piece forward.

The “bad morning” had turned into a productive one. The events did not change at first. My frequency did. That change guided better action. Better action shaped better results.

We are taught to chase wins and avoid losses. That creates a roller coaster. Up when people praise us and down when they do not. A better approach is to treat results as data, not as final grades. When you remove the heavy label, you keep your power. You see options. You act with clarity.

Media and timelines try to rent space in your mind. They sell panic and pressure because they hold attention. If you let every headline set your temperature, you will run hot when it's hot and cold when it's cold. That is not living. That is reacting.

Breathe. Slow down and remember you are alive. You have a choice.
Believe. Align your mind. You are in your purpose, and you can adapt.
Become. Take one small action that your best self would take today.

This is simple enough for a child to use. It is strong enough for a visionary to build with. But that doesn't mean it's easy.

At the end of the day, let's stop keeping score in our minds by assessing whether this or that situation is a win or a loss. Instead, let's move like a compass, asking ourselves whether we moved in alignment today.

The compass keeps you steady in the face of a challenge. It also keeps you humble in the face of abundance. It turns every result into fuel for the next step.

Life hands you scenes. You choose the picture. Your focus, your frame, turn moments into meaning. Breathe. Believe. Become. That is how you win either way.
